DAY 6 - POSITIVE LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE
CONNECT
Positive Leaders don’t just communicate. They communicate to connect.
Communication begins the process of building trust but connection is where a bond of trust is created and earned. Connecting is essential because you’ll never have commitment without connection. If you want a committed relationship and a committed team you must make the time to connect with them. Great leaders connect one on one with the people they lead and they foster connection among their team members. It doesn’t happen by accident. You must make the time to intentionally connect.
LEADER TOOL
Connecting is one of the 7 essential commitments from my latest bestselling book, The 7 Commitments of a Great Team. Grab a copy for you and your team to dive deeper into building stronger relationships and discover the other powerful commitments that drive great teams.
TAKE ACTION
Intentionally connect with one person on your team or one person you lead each day. It doesn’t have to take a long time. Even 10 minutes will make a difference. Ask them how they are doing and really listen. Have a meaningful conversation. Ask how you can help them.
Also make time to connect at home. My wife and I take walks at night as a way to talk and connect. We pray together before bed. When my children were younger we had family meetings each Sunday. My children are now 21 and 23 and we all communicate and connect as a family via group messaging.
Tomorrow we'll wrap up the challenge with a lesson on Commitment and Caring.
