DAY 7 - POSITIVE LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE
COMMIT AND CARE
Positive leadership is not just a state of mind that makes you feel better. It’s a state of action that makes others better. Positive leaders serve the people they lead. They sacrifice their time and energy and give their all to help their team become all they can be.
As a leader you don’t have to be great to serve but you have to serve to be great.
Positive leaders focus on WE not me. They serve and sacrifice through commitment and caring. When you commit to those you lead and show you care about them you bring out the best in them.
When people know you are committed to them they commit back you. Commitment recognizes commitment. Thus if you want the people you lead to be committed, you must demonstrate you are committed to them.
Positive leaders go first. They lead the way. They show others what commitment and caring looks like and as a result they build a team that commits and cares.
I have found that great leaders also have a caring trademark, a unique way that shows others they care about them. Some are great listeners. Others encourage. One writes thank you notes. Another leader mentors and coaches extensively. One leader sends notes of recognition to family members of her team. Another leader always takes the time to brainstorm with his project team. The ways are endless. The important thing is to make the time to commit to others and demonstrate you care about them.
TAKE ACTION
Today do one thing that demonstrates to those that you lead that you are committed to and care about them. Going forward identify ways that you can demonstrate commitment and caring to your team. The more your team recognizes your commitment and sees that you care the more they will commit to you.
Tomorrow, we’ll send you a few hand-picked resources to help you grow and thrive as a Positive Leader plus you’ll receive a BONUS lesson on the 3 Key Top Characteristics every Positive Leader needs to master. These traits are essential for long-term impact and ongoing growth.
