Last week we hosted the Lead Positive Summit and it was phenomenal!
Not because it was perfect.
But because it was real.
Leaders from all over the world came together to grow, reflect, and be reminded of what truly matters. And I was incredibly grateful to be joined by a world-class group of voices, including Ed Mylett, Chaunte Lowe, Ryan Leak, Julie Nee, Amy P. Kelly, Jordan Montgomery, and Liz Bohannon.
As I’ve been reflecting on everything that was shared, I wanted to pull together 10 leadership takeaways that stood out, lessons you can apply right away, whether you joined us live or not.
10 Leadership Takeaways from the Lead Positive Summit
1. Leadership doesn’t get easier, you get stronger.
Growth doesn’t remove pressure; it increases capacity. Strong leaders build habits that help them respond well when things are hard.
2. You fall to the level of your standards, not your goals.
As Ed Mylett reminded us, goals inspire, but standards determine outcomes. What you tolerate today shapes your results tomorrow.
3. Perspective determines endurance.
Chaunte Lowe showed us that adversity doesn’t disqualify leadership, it refines it. How you see your situation shapes how you walk through it.
4. You can’t withdraw from people you haven’t invested in.
Leadership is relational. Ryan Leak challenged us to play the long game by consistently pouring into others. The greatest investment you can make is in yourself and in others.
5. Confidence is built through action, not waiting.
According to Julie Nee, courage comes before clarity. Leaders grow by stepping forward before they feel fully ready.
6. Encouragement is a leadership strategy.
As Jordan Montgomery shared, when people feel seen, known, valued, and understood, performance and trust increase.
7. Difficult conversations build trust when handled well.
Avoidance doesn’t protect relationships. Amy P. Kelly reminded us that preparation and grace turn hard conversations into trust-building moments. Prepare for the conversation so you don’t have to repair the relationship.
8. You can’t consume community… you must co-create it.
Liz Bohannon challenged us to invest in relationships intentionally. Social health is a leadership advantage.
9. Culture is shaped by what you reinforce daily.
Leadership isn’t about big speeches, it’s about consistent behavior. What you feed grows. What you ignore spreads.
10. Growth accelerates in the right environment.
Leaders don’t grow alone. Leaders need connection and community. The right community, coaching, and shared learning create momentum that’s hard to build by yourself.
As you move into the week ahead, remember this: you don’t have to be perfect to make progress. Pick one principle that matters most right now, lead with intention, and trust that growth will come through faithful consistency.
Lead Positive,
Jon
